LAPLACE was pleased to participate in the Taiyang News Cell & Module Production Equipment and Processing Materials Conference, where our Director of Technology, Dr. Josua Stueckelberger shared LAPLACE’s perspective on the future of solar manufacturing.

Under the theme “Beyond Equipment: Building the Next Generation of Solar Manufacturing,” the presentation explored how the future of photovoltaic manufacturing is shaped not only by equipment itself, but also by the technologies, core components, and manufacturing capabilities behind it.

A key topic was LAPLACE’s Atomic Edge Passivation Deposition (EPD) technology. Cell slicing creates new edges with lattice defects and dangling bonds, which can introduce recombination centers and lead to performance losses. EPD equipment addresses this challenge by depositing a passivation layer on newly cut edges, helping recover slicing-related losses and improve carrier lifetime. For half-cut cells, our EPD equipment can achieve a 0.20–0.25% efficiency gain at ≥6 W @ 210R; for quarter-cut cells, it delivers a 0.35–0.40% efficiency gain with a minimum power increase of ≥8.5 W.

Reliable manufacturing also requires a stable and secure supply chain. LAPLACE develops key components in-house, including heating elements and quartz products, providing stronger supply assurance while helping customers achieve smooth production start-up and effectively control production costs. In addition, Josua also highlighted LAPLACE’s position as a leader in the BC equipment market.

As solar manufacturing continues to advance, the next generation of production capabilities will require not only high-performance equipment but will also depend on the ability to combine process innovation with reliable core technologies and robust manufacturing support.
